Poster illustration for musical Little Jack — Though lover be lost, love shall not

I created this poster illustration for the Chinese adaptation of the Korean immersive musical Little Jack.
-
Set in a British pub back in 1967, the story centers on musician Jack. He returns to the old venue where his band first got their start, sharing his tender and bittersweet love story with Julie. Their romance was woven together by music, the sea and starlight. The show’s tagline — 'Though lover be lost, love shall not' — sums up its core feeling.
-
As music sits at the very heart of this story, Jack narrates their whole romance alone through his guitar and songs. Julie is also a lover of music, and the two connect over this shared passion. For this poster, I built the composition around his acoustic guitar, paired with facing silhouettes of the two lovers to capture the quiet chemistry between them. I tucked subtle details into the artwork: the shell necklace Julie gave Jack as a token of their love, and faint hints of British coastal architecture. She was drawn to Jack through his music, and this mutual love for sound brought them together. I wanted this piece to feel deeply emotional, holding all the longing of their romance.

For this project, I explored several different visual directions before settling on the final composition. The gallery includes the clean finished artwork, a photo of the printed poster on display, plus my early concept sketches.
